How to cure a dog’s collar cut?

I took my dog’s collar off to give him a monthly bath but i discovered a deep cut about an inch and a half. Im guessing he had it too tight. To help i put hydrogen peroxide on it, but i want some more help to cure him if there’s anything else i can do. I will end up taking him to the vet if he starts looking sick or infected. So if anyone can help me on how to cure a neck cut on a dog from a tight leash please answer.
Thank’s for the helpful answers, my dog does’nt look in very much pain because he’s just fine and running around. That’s good i just hope it get’s better instead of worse.if it does im gonna have to take him to he vet.

How the heck did you not realize that your dog’s collar was way too tight till it was already embedding so deep in its flesh??? Could you not see any blood or pus on that area nor smell rotting flesh? Please for goodness sakes, bring the poor animal to the VET & not simply put "stuff" on the cut without the doctor’s consent. It’s neck needs to be STITCHED!

just keep on cleaning it with rubbing alcohol. peroxide is probably too strong. keep the area clean by shaving the surrounding fur and put plain neosporin on it daily.

it was smart to put the hydrogen peroxide on the cut. if your dog looks like it is in pain, call a vet or someone trained with your breed of dog to see what painreleivers are good to take. other than that, keep the collar off the dog, and try to keep the cut clean. :)

Clean it and apply Betadine. When using Peroxide make sure you dry it really well or the peroxide can actually make it worse. It is good to use, just make sure you rinse and dry it well, then apply the Betadine and some antibiotic ointment to keep the infection away.If it is not a lot better within a couple days…vet.

Glad you caught this before it got worse…Good Luck.
