My dog is sick; heartworms?
I have a 9 yr old Siberian Husky.
She’s been taking Heart guard medication since August 2008, when she was diagnosed with heart worms. The vet said this was an alternative treatment.
She has been doing so well, until now.
Today, she hasn’t been acting herself.
She’s sluggish, and coughing and breathing really heavily.
I’ve concluded that it’s probably the heart worms, if anything.
Is there really anything i can do at this point to help her?
I feel so helpless at the moment.
it hurts me to see her like this.
So, it’s possible it’s not the heartworms?
All you can do is go to vet for a diagnosis. Unlike the other comment for mild cases of heart worm they do use the preventative to treat the worms. It normally takes about 2yr for the full treatment. For severe cases they do injections which are very strong. Your dog may have URI, doggy flu or something else – your diagnosis is likely not correct.
