My dog is a tea cup Chihuahua and she gets really sick in the truck and starts throwing up everywhere. I am wanting to know if their is anything to cure that so i can take her on trips.
I have puppies in cars all the time. Some puke and some don’t. I get motion sick in cars too and the same things that work for me, help with them. Most puppies stop puking as they get older (6 months to a year old). Some don’t.
Things that help:
Don’t let them look out the window (the motion caught from the corner of your eye makes it so much worse).
Don’t let the car get too warm.
I’ll second the no large meals before a car trip.
I also agree with the ginger… gingersnap cookies usually do the trick.

Hi am currently in school and when i was walking down the lane to home from the bus i saw a dog that looked skinny and neglected. My mom doesn’t take strays in…it’s not that she wouldn’t love to help the poor dog it’s just that we all ready have a dog and we dont want her to get sick and we dont have enough money to get cured of heart worm…ect. that it might have.So i was thinking that i might could possibly try to help it without my mom knowing about it.I could get a blanket, food ,water and give it love.I know i probably shouldnt help it if i cant take it in side. But when i am trying to go to sleep for school i cant help but thinking of it almost crying wanting to help it.And possibly show it to my mom after a week or so of getting a little loving and tame. Then i could probably give it away to my neighbors which are good people.please give good answers.and i am a animal lover and so is my mom.So please dont talk bad of us.So how could i help it without my mom knowing…plus i got a waggen in the backyard that i could put like rubber on it and give it a nice blanket and maybe even take into a garage so please help.
Honestly, I think you should talk to your mom. I know you said she doesn’t want to take in strays, and I understand. My dad has four dogs. He told me once that if he had enough money, he’d probably take in all the strays he could find. I’ve got cats, and I feel the same way. Food and vet bills can be very expensive.
But if you present the case to your mom and tell her how important it is to you, maybe you can work together and figure out a way to help it. You could even offer get a part-time job, or do little odd jobs here and there to help with any expenses. If you can’t keep it anywhere or find a home for it, maybe keep some food and water for it outside and show the dog where it is, so it knows where to come back to. If none of these things work out, see if you can get the dog to a shelter.

well please and thank you
sorry i spelled chihuahuas wrong
My god. They are DOGS, not CHILDREN. You already seem to be doing too much for these dogs. Do you make the dogs earn any of those things, or are they just spoiled? Since you still haven’t house-trained the dogs, I believe it is safe to assume you haven’t done any other training, either.
If you want your dogs to be healthy and happy, pick up a couple books about dog psychology and training. Your dogs will thank you for it. And you will learn how to house train your dogs so you won’t need to make diapers for them.

i really need these things because i love them very much
i can make and buy people who think im poor as heck i love them and i can afford small stuff for them and all but most dog stuff are expensive and some stuff like the tooth brush this is asking how to brush them not make them lol i just want thew best for my dogs because they are high expectations at my pre teened age lol not like i cant afford bath soap im asking what type lol
there is nothing wrong with making things for your dogs such as clothes and beds and what not. Where do you think they come from people? yes someone made them. As long as your not using harmful things to make them there is nothing wrong with it. To the asker of the question, if you can’t afford a dog don’t get one. You need to pay for vet bills, food, and such. Unless you plan to become a pro sewer, knitter, and dog food maker, you should be able to shell out 40 bucks a month or so on basic supplies for your dog. You should also have around 300 dollars saved up for emergency vet trips if you don’t have health insurance. But there is nothing wrong with building your own dog house (make sure materials are pet safe) or making you own sweater for your pup or even making a bed. But please buy your dog good healthy food and take him to the vet don’t skimp on these things it could kill him.

Ok I read a question in the zoology section, and I just couldnt believe what the person said..
"all of my dogs puppies have caught the red mange. I have tied Anna(momma) dog up in the barn. She still comes in to contact with the puppies, but only for about a half a minute when i go to feed her. besides that they sometimes sleep in the dog house she sleeps in. We are going to have to shoot the puppies. they have got it very badly. But what should i do with Anna. The Vet says she does not have it….. but should i change the carpeting in her dog house? what should i do?"
http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070523073344AA5PiMb&r=w&pa=FZptHWf.BGRX3OFMhj1cU4z5cYV_wY676rWNatEjL97yKDuFzeAvjL1DeM8ifLYk8N3XtBuuoXN.S.pQEA–&paid=answered#FcIvDmDtVThtTsF_DfJYq_txKOOEKj2HM5jbbnIrMeeGLBiWSWJ.
How could anyone even consider shooting puppies? not only that its like the vet didnt do anything at all to help or tell this person about "red mange" it can be cured, why kill them instead?
What do you think? I mean I answered and explained that it is curable and all the info about demodectic mange etc but I am sure they will still shoot the pups and it breaks my heart.. Why are people so heartless, I mean it sounds like they care about the dogs somewhat because they are asking but in the next sentece says they will "have to shoot the pups" well they dont HAVE to but it sounds like they will anyway, what a cruel world…
It IS a cruel world. I am thankful that there are people like you and so many other like-minded folks on Yahoo Answers and elsewhere.
Having Pets is a RESPONSIBILITY that is just as much work as having children. Maybe.. just maybe.. a little less becauz nt all children give unconditional love.
BREEDING Pets in this world that has a HUUUGE Pet Overpopulation problem is a sin. It is just adding to the terrible misery that is out there already.
However, not all people see the light, and thus consider shooting and drowiningand any other form of a horrible death as a way to "get rid of" an animal – an animal who just wants to live a life free from harm, as we humans also want.
I would consider those people who want to shoot those puppies as selfish, hearltless, irresponsible and cruel.
Also — shooting a pet in 42 states is a FELONY.
Sadly, you can tell a person as much as you want to tell them, and you can tell them ALL the RIGHT things, but that won;t guarantee that they will do it.
This is why I believe that MANDATORY Humane Education should be taught in ALl schools.
We resonate with ALL of creation and what we do to the animals and all living things is felt by ALL of us.
Pray for Anna and her puppies — if you are not a praying person, then think kind thoughts and send positive energy– they will feel it. And while you are at it, do the same for Anna’s "owners".
I will too.

i don’t know how this happened as I was only drinking beer… I have been sick the past few weeks so maybe my body wasn’t up to it… please does anyone have a great hangover cure… my head is pounding… i’m contemplating the hair of the dog at the moment…
if it was only beer (domestic, with lots of preservatives and chemicals in it), then I’d say your hangover is caused by mostly dehydration and the preservatives in the beer. Best way to avoid this is to drink better beer and also plenty of water before you go to sleep.
If it was a microbrew kind of beer with mostly pure ingredients, then just the water before bed helps. (possibly with a multivitamin, if you’re not feeling queasy already).
To help get over this type of hangover, you have to rehydrate and kill your headache…take some naproxen or ibuprofen…(stay away from acetiminophen because combined with the alcohol still in your system, it causes more liver damage than either alcohol or tylenol separately).
Of course, if you’re also feeling low because you didn’t get enough sleep, then go back to sleep.
What really helps me also, is to get your metabolism going by eating something really spicy (as long as you’re not in danger of throwing up.) I like spicy soups, or just eat some spicy peppers, or the spicy v8 or if you want to add alcohol, drink a spicy bloody mary.

I love cats and dog, and I’m planning to get a dog in the near future. I loove them! But the problem is, I’m allergic to their furs. If they just sleep on my lap, guaranteed that I will be sick the next day.
So, is there any way I could get a dog even though I’m allergic to them? I want a dog so bad! Like something to cure my allergic, or something to be done to my dog so that i wouldn’t be allergic.
You can try regular over-the-counter allergy medications, prescription medications, shots, etc. Talk to your doctor about it.
You can also choose a breed of dog that is less likely to bother you – though it isn’t a guarantee! Try dogs that don’t shed and have hair instead of fur. Spend time with puppies and adults and see how you do (both with and without allergy medications.)

he’s sick, has bad diarrhea and glaucoma, so I decided to try colloidal silver for a few weeks and see how he does on it. it cured my post nasal drip, so it might help him too, but is it safe for dogs??? I give him a small dose of course.
I know a number of people who use it for their dogs. Here are some of the human uses, and some of them may correlate to your dog’s digestive problem.

However, your dog does need a good veterinary exam, to find out just what the problem is…For instance,if it is a liver problem, you need to know, because it will make a difference in what you should feed. Same with kidney, pancreas, lower bowl, etc. .

I don’t want to sound terrible. I want to do everything we can do help our dog. But we have already shelled out thousands on his health problems and he is only 2 years old.
We’ve hit hard times and we are so scared we aren’t going to be able to treat him. If we have to we will take out a loan. I’m not working due to the pregnancy and my husband was laid off about 3 weeks ago. Hopefully he will have a new job soon.
My dog is sick and I suspect heartworms. He has been on preventative his whole life, but never tested (I’m looking at his records now) The old vet didn’t test unless the dog missed a dose or something. New vet tests yearly and he is due for a test in January but his symptoms scream heartworms so I am going to take him this week.
My husband would like to know how much a heartworm test is?
And I want to be prepared if it comes back positive for heartworms how much we are looking at spending for treatment. So i can get things organized.
Also what are the chances for recovery? Can it be cured?
He has always been sick with something or other. He suffered with gastrointestinal problems that almost took him from us twice. He does have a compromised immune system. We are scared.
Thanks
Again I don’t want to sound horrible, but I have to find away to take care of him and I have to think about the money too. I may have to borry from my parents for treatment or something.
ADD: Rehoming him is not an option, I don’t care that times are hard we will find a way to care for him. We may be in debt over him but we love him
bonnie, he didn’t come from a breeder. Well not a real one atleast
I will have had him for 2 years this halloween and i wouldn’t trade him for the world
Also even though he was on preventative he was exposed to 3 dogs that had heartworms. Is it possible with his compromised immune system that he could have caught it from them.
He is going to the doc tomorrow
The test is about $25, at a vet that is not screwing people. Make sure they aren’t doing a full blood test, a heart worm test takes like 5 drops of blood. If you see them filling up red or purple topped vials then they are planning on doing a CBC which is unnecessary and can be upwards of $200.
Make sure you ask what they are doing every step of the way and how much it costs.
There is a treatment…but it’s kind of expensive and dangerous. Though it’s like over 90% effective.
The treatment is a series of arsenic injections and then a heavy dose of heart worm medication. This is also not an outpatient procedure. The vet will usually keep them at the clinic to watch them since it is so dangerous.
They will also be very sluggish and sore (the injections go in the hips) and may not be able to walk very well.
If you are willing to go through the treatment ask your vet about a payment plan. As long as you’ve paid your bill’s in full and on time before they should work with you. They know that it’s better to treat quickly to avoid later problems.
If your vet won’t do a payment plan, call around. The vets that are most likely to do payment plans are doctors who own their own clinic and not commercial places like the clinics in Petsmart.
I don’t remember how much we used to charge for the treatment, I’m sorry, but I do wish you luck.
