The grounds at my apartment complex are littered with dog waste even though it is in the lease agreement to pick up after your pet. It is not enforced at all, and we have complained at least once a month to the office. My dog has become sick and if he is diagnosed with parvo, I will be 100% convinced that it is due to the condition around my complex.
Your dog should be vaccinated against Parvo and all the other communicable doggie diseases. Especially if you live in an apartment complex where other dog owners may not be as responsible as you are.
As far as a suit is concerned, unless you can prove that the grounds are infected and that you never took your dog anywhere else where he might have contracted it, I don’t think you have a case. By the way, the vet’s office is one of the MOST contaminated areas, all the sick dogs go there. And surely you have taken him to the vet’s?

So the other day my mom gave my dog a rawhide chew stick from petco that had peanut butter on is and then today he barfed twice and took a poop on the carpet, and when I came back from a party he was shaking (hes part chihuahua, so it happens alot) so I let him out on the patio and he tried to go poop but he had diarrhea and then when he was done he started walking and then He started whimpering and more poop came out. Sorry about the details but I need to know Is it salmonella??? Are Petco treats INFECTED?!?! I am really scared right now. WHat are signs of salmonella? Can It be cured??
my dog is two and he LOVES rawhide chews (yes from the US) And we give him one every week. Its just that he tore through this new one (its a different kind) that we gave him really easily.
hes not THAT small. Hes really really lean and muscular and weighs about 12 pounds
If you are afraid it may be salmonella, you really need to get your dog to a vet. The dog may also be sensitive to peanut butter or even the rawhide. Stay away from rawhides in the future, they are very dangerous for dogs.

No, it’s not true. It’s an old wive’s tale.
For starters, dogs’ noses aren’t always wet. Sometimes they’re dry, sometimes they’re runny, sometimes they’re scaly. Most of the time, though, a bright, happy dog will continually lick his nose (and you, the air, and his private parts; it’s not like they’re discriminating) and so the nose is wet. When the dog isn’t feeling well, he tends not to lick his nose, and the nose is dry. This is not a direct correlation, however, and does not mean that dry noses equal fevers. The brachycephalic breeds (bulldogs, Bostons, pugs, also known as the snorty ones) have noses set so high on their muzzles that they can’t reach them with their tongues and thus the noses tend to become cracked and dry on top. The nose, known to its friends as the nasal planum, is unique in the dog in that it lacks apocrine sweat glands, as do the footpads. The footpads do have eccrine sweat glands, which is why nervous dogs and cats leave sweaty little footprints everywhere.

my dog has what looks 2 me is a cold with slight coughing, she szeezes and has a bunged up nose.should i take her the vet and let them diagnose what ive just said or wait a couple of more days 2 see if she gets better herself
has your dog been playing with other dogs? Sharing water dishes? At a kennel or doggy daycare? Then yup it’s kennel cough. The name sounds worse than it is most of the time. It’s similar to the human cold. Unless your dog gets really sick you dont need to worry much. They cough mostly when excited, active and when they are trying to sleep at night. you can give them some CHILDRENS cough medicine to help calm it down. Give the same dosage for a child of the same weight. If your dog is smaller than the weights provided, just do a little math to get the amount. The easiest way to give it is with a syringe. You can get them at pharmacies..
If your dog is completely not herself, if she has alot of mucus, if she cannot keep food down, has stopped eating (they will usually eat less tho) or just becomes really lethargic, then you should see the vet for some antibiotics.
Make sure your dog gets vaccinated for kennel cough every year with the others. You may have to request it. If your dog will be spending time in a kennel or daycare you need to vaccinate TWO WEEKS before for your dogs protection and to prevent spreading it to other dogs.

My dog is a German shepherd. He is one years old. I try to play catch with a tennis ball with him but he is scared. We looked if he was sick 3 month ago, he was, but the doctor cured him. How can I make my dog play catch with me?
Playing fetch games provides exercise for your dog. It also provides a good way to get those toys back so you don’t end up getting all the exercise.
•In the beginning, roll the toy away from your dog and let him get it.
•When he picks it up, say, "Fetch!" so he begins to associate the command with the action. Then praise him with an excited voice.
•As he gets older, throw the toy a little further.
•When he brings it back, give lots of praise and let your dog play with the toy for a few minutes so he gains some benefit from his effort of retrieving it.
•If he doesn’t bring it back, use a long lead attached to his collar. Gently reel your dog in with the toy and praise him for coming back.
•Pet him, but avoid his head so he doesn’t think you’re going to immediately take the toy from him.
•Care should be taken playing this game vigorously with growing dogs. Avoid playing on slippery surfaces and ask your veterinarian how much fetch is appropriate for your age and breed of dog.
Some dogs enjoy the chase of the toy and retrieving it and want you to throw it again immediately. Others want the toy with less chasing and retrieving.
Once he’s had a minute or so to play with the toy, your dog may drop it on his own. If he does, say, "Drop," to reinforce the behavior. If he doesn’t drop it on his own, get a light grip on the toy and give the command to drop. Praise him when he lets go of it and throw it again.

I am moving in with my sister while my husband is in Iraq. Her cat has been recently diagnosed with feline lukemia and I was wondering if my dog could get sick from her cat.
No, luckily your dog can’t get feline leukemia. It is not a zoonotic disease–meaning it only attacks one species. Canines and humans are immune to it. Your question is a good one; don’t feel bad that some people are responding sarcastically. Just because a disease is not zoonotic doesn’t mean it will always be so. In Africa, canine distemper recently made the jump from wild dogs to lions. The lions have no defences against a canine disease and it is ravaging their population.

so i have a female dog that is 8 months old and me and my mom have seen her a little weird and stuff but she isnt sick so me and my mom are just wondering how to tell if she is going to have her first period (she has never had it, its first time)
Humans have periods when they don’t get pregnant. Dogs have heat cycles and during that time is when they can get pregnant. Just watch her for signs of not eating or acting like she doesn’t feel well. She will have some slight bleeding from her vagina. If she is a small dog it won’t be much, but if she is a big dog, it can actually be a little messy. At eight months she is close to her first time and then it will happen about every six months after that if she doesn’t have puppies.
good luck..

my dogs at the vet. he is very sick. he has a 106 degree temp. and is drooloing excessively. vet said he may have rabies or distemper. hes only 2 and has had ALL of his shots! how can this be?! his prognosis is poor at this point……guess im just waiting until the blood test comes back tomorrow to see if its distemper. vet said that rabies can only be diagnosed POST-MORTEM. omg, im just sick. i have done all i can to keep him healthy. where did i go wrong? sorry, e1, im just a mess right now.
Normal temperature for canines is about 100 – 102. 106 is bad and it’s good you took your dog to the vet. Your vet is the best one to diagnose your dog cause your dog is with your vet. From the symptoms you just wrote, heatstroke is a possibility. It’s winter, so maybe it’s not, unless the dog has been left in the car for a long time. Then there are on rare occasions when the vaccinations you paid for is no good, and they need to be vaccinated with effective vaccine. Then there’s the question of, did your dog build enough immunity for it. Some of the cases, is that even with vaccinations, the dog has not build a strong immunity yet, and is prone to get distemper. Rabies is when he got in contact with an infected animals. So, maybe if you can take to account your dog’s activities past 6 months – it takes that long usually to show signs. There are 3 stages in the infected animal with rabies. And the infected dog usually would be aggressive and bite anyone or other animals – usually close to the last stage. But your dog would be in 3rd stage from the symptoms you wrote. So, maybe it’s not rabies. Again, your vet knows best.
All you can do now, is hope for the best. But like part of life, sometimes an unpleasant event will come sooner than we expect. I wish you the very best. Stay brave!
